Paulo Reis Residency

With this residence, in partnership with the Aomori Contemporary Art Centre, Appleton, and DIDAC, we pay tribute to the work and vital attitude of the curator Paulo Reis, a unique figure in his commitment to building bridges between Brazil, Portugal, and Spain.

This is a non-profit residency, which aims the exchange amid the artists.

“Considering the activities, personal and artistic encounters, future connections and lots of awakened smiles, I think that I reached my great goal, which was bringing together people I admire by their work and by their personal character, following the feeling that common interest projects will be born. I believe that connecting bridges are built on the ground of affection, either artistic or human affection. Only the pillar of affectivity can sustain this bridge.”

Paulo Reis (1960-2011)

In the Paulo Reis residence at Projeto Fidalga Jara, he develops together with Alba Cacheda Without beginning or end, a research project around mediation practices in the city with the aim of learning new ways of mediating and generating contact networks between Brazil and Spain . Its mission is to learn about different cultural mediation projects, with which to develop a more accurate vision of how these educational processes are understood and put into practice in Sao Paulo, in order to bring cultural mediation closer to both contexts both physically and symbolically. .</p>
